Chenille Floor Mat

Have you ever purchased the items
necessary to make something
and then put it off
FOREVER,
thinking it's going to be too difficult or take a long time?

Two years ago or so I was in a quilt shop and saw
this great chenille floor mat.
I asked the owner how to make it
and purchased what was needed to make one.
I was going to make one for my sister.

Well....
I'd plan to make it, but wouldn't because I was
afraid it would take too long
or be too difficult
or not turn out the way it should.

Yesterday I finally decided
"Today is the day."
I pulled out the fabric and cut the four layers plus the canvas for the bottom.
A piece of batting was cut and the
stitching lines were drawn on back of the canvas.

The stitching began.

This went together so quickly!

And turned out great.

I haven't washed it yet, but will before I give it to my sister.
(Act surprised, Deeda!)

Here I was almost dreading making this floor mat,
put it off for two years
and it took all of
Three Hours!!

Happy Quilting!

Congrats on powering through! Chenille was all the rage when I first joined a guild many years ago. I got the tools, but never attempted it, mainly because folks were mostly making jackets and I'd rather sew straight seams. Never thought about doing a home dec project ....

Very nice? What is the canvas that you used? Are the directions public record? I'd like to try that one day!

You will have such wonderful colors when it is washed.

What a fun project. I have a rotary cutter for doing chenille but I haven't opened it.

I bet this will be beautiful when it is washed.

This is a brand new idea for me Ramona. When you wash it will the design still show up? I'm really intrigued and can't wait to see what it looks like when you are done!
I often suffer from a fear of cutting into fabric I like. You should have seen me hoarding Kaffe, but I finally got over that one, LOL.

I hear you on putting things off... but how great does this look now that you tackled it. Hope to see the washed version soon.

That turned out great. Aren't you glad you decided that "today was the day?" Be sure and show us after you wash it. I love the designs on it too.

It is an awesome chennile project. I have seen several baby panels that have been done. I have yet to do it. BUT yes I have done the same thing many more times that I admit-buying and putting it off for a very long time. Why do we do that to ourselves is beyond me, LOL

It's really neat. I made one about 15 years ago. The panel makes it very interesting and eye catching.
