Get it Done....

Before I move into a new year
I like to look back on the one passing...
remembering the joys... (there were a lot, thankfully)..
remembering the valleys...(there were a few)...
think about how some things could have been different...
(although I don't spend much time here...
what's passed is passed)
Just reflect....

I am looking forward to 2014
and
dreaming of all that I
hope to accomplish.

I was able to mark two things off of my
"Get It Done"
list for December.

The Angel ornaments were made!

I also finished the mini reproduction quilts.

A third item on my list is well on it's way to completetion:

I hope to have my sister's
Courthouse Steps
sewn into a top today.

To end this year,
here are a few of my favorite finishes
of 2013.

Happy New Year!
And may 2014 be filled with
many happy sewing hours!

Design Wall Monday...

I just have to say....

It is really good to be
stretched sometimes!
I did not like these
pinwheel blocks at all when
I posted them last week.
I had never made a quilt from
recycled anything
and did NOT like how it was turning out
at all.

WELL....

What a difference some
sashing,
cornerstones
and
time
make!

I am LOVING how this
baby quilt is turning out!

I think I will add a
Piano Key border.

Yippee!!

Knitting Needles Friday

This will be the
LAST
Friday knitting post for
2013.
WOW!!

It has been a productive year
of knitting and I have
learned A LOT!
Plus...
it has been a lot of fun!

This week I finished another pair of

These are for me!!

What I am most excited about this week
 is
this little thing
my husband put in my stocking!
This is soooo cool!!

It's called the Knit Kit....
Can you see the stitch counter on the top,
the tape measure from the bottom,
(the white button retracts the tape measure)
the crochet hook coming from the side,
and there is a thread cutter hidden
under the tape measure??!!

THEN....

Inside the back are
scissors,
a tapestry needle,
markers
and the little thingies to put on the end of the needles.

PLUS...

A tool to measure the size of knitting needles.

All in a little compact case!
How cool is that??

are knitting.

Have a great Friday!

Design Wall Monday

I'm actually surprised I have
Anything
to show this week.
We are all a little busy, aren't we?

This past week I stepped
WWWWAAAAYYYYY
out of my comfort zone!
And I mean way out!!

I found some 100% cotton
men's shirts,
"deboned" them,
and started making a
Baby Quilt.

This is a pile of "deboned" shirts
waiting to be cut
into squares and then
sewn into HST's.

I thought pinwheels would be something
to calm the craziness.
I just don't know if I like the look.
Sashing will be sewn between the blocks,
so that should help with the craziness, too.

I'll keep working on it and see how things look
after the blocks are sewn together.

Some of them are fine...

We shall see.

Happy Quilting
and
Merry Christmas!!

Knitting Needles Friday...

This week I finished the last
knitted gift
I wanted to make.

Here is the pair of
for my youngest daughter.

I LOVE this color combination!
Since I wound the skein into a ball a while ago,
I can't remember what yarn this is.
It's so soft, though!

Then...
as most of us do...
since I was done with one project,
I HAD to begin another....
(Even though I have Two more going already!)

Last night I started a pair of
Reading Mitts for myself!

This yarn is one of the Holiday Specials
from
(Sorry but it sold out that day. :( )
It is Christmassy and soo soft!

This week I did work a little on the socks
I am currently making.
Just a little...

It's beginning to look a lot....

.... like Christmas!

The decorating is done...
The shopping is almost done...
(one small thing yet to get!)
The cards are here
and the letter is written...
The wrapping hasn't begun...
And I'm not sure if baking will be done this year...
BUT...
It's Christmas!!

Ornaments my daughter and I made are
wrapped and ready to be given...

For several years I bought a hand made Santa
from this woman at a local craft show.
She made them out of old quilts or blankets
 and vintage buttons, etc.
I love my Santas.
Sadly, she isn't in this show anymore.

This year I found this metal tree for some of my
vintage ornaments!

I made our stockings last year...
so much fun!

Lots of handmade ornaments on our tree
with the yoyo garland I made last year!

Years ago I cross-stitched the Santas on my foyer table...
along with quilting the cathedral window table runner.
This Santa and snowman came from another craft show.

These are a few of my favorite things!

Merry Christmas!!

Design Wall Monday

Not much has gone on around
the sewing machine this week,
BUT
I did get a little sewing done.

The "Just Takes 2" blocks
are sewn together...
at least the first section.

I'm pretty sure this is where I am stopping.
This is not where I want to be
spending my sewing time, SO.....

What to do for borders?
Maybe a deep red?
Or black?

I'll have to play around with some fabrics.

Also...
I started sewing the rest of the blocks for
the courthouse steps quilt for
my sister.

They will be added to these
completed blocks.

Hopefully these will be turned into a
completed top by the end of the week.

Knitting Needles Friday

Woohoo!!
I am on the home stretch!!

I have one more
Fingerless Mitt to make
and
I
am
DONE!!

This week I blocked the two
Shawls I made for gifts.

I have never blocked anything before now.
Hopefully I wasn't too far off in how I did it.

This shawl is "Wingspan."

I really like this "3S Shawl" and might have to
make it again.

And here is the completed

Onto the second one!

(Looking at these photos, you'd think the yarn of the
3S shawl and the fingerless mitt is the same yarn.
It isn't!  I really like this color combination!!)

Happy Knitting
and
Merry Christmas!!

The Angels have Wings!!

And Halos....
And a Hanger....

The Ornaments are Finished!

Yippee!!!!

They aren't completely dressed here.
They need their bows around their necks!

All done and
Ready to be attached to gifts.

I had planned on making more of these
and have the
Dresden plate pieces cut and sewn.

The problem is...
I don't have anymore painted faces!
(I bought these at the quilt shop in Lancaster....
The Pattern designer also sells them.)

Maybe I could paint faces???

Angels we have heard on high....

:)

A Finish!!

... it's a small one....
BUT
My mini's are done!
These have been on my list for
Two months now!

December Get It Done List...
Check one off!

Yea!!

I might keep this one...

And this one, too.
:)
At least for a while..
  The little one is 9 x 12....
The others are 19 x 21....

Happy Quilting!

Design Wall Monday

It's beginning to look a bit
Like Christmas....
at least in my sewing room!

I FINALLY
started working on my
annual ornaments.

This year I am making
Angels
with Dresden Plate skirts.

I found this pattern on my
trip to Lancaster in the summer.

This pile of pieces...

Is slowly being turned...

Into angels!

I cheated and bought the heads already painted,
since I am NOT a painter!

All that is left is the halo and the wings!

Merry Christmas!

Knitting Needles Friday

This week I had several appointments,
so....
knitting time!

I finished making the
for my oldest daugther.

These will go in her stocking.
:)

My youngest daughter loved the pair I gave her for
her Birthday
and asked if I would make her another pair.

Her office is so cold....
she will wear these at work.
:)

THEN...
I realized this morning that
I haven't blocked these shawls yet!!!
And they are Christmas gifts!!

Guess what I will be doing this weekend?!?

Happy Friday!
