Those who have been following me for a while
may remember that I have made a
Patriotic table runner or topper
for my siblings and myself for years.
It's in memory of our dad,
who was one of the most patriotic
people I know.
Last year I told my siblings that that table runner
was going to be the last one.
After all, how many table runners or toppers does one need?
Then this year I remembered...
it's the 250 birthday of our great country.
How can I not make something this year?
I decided to finish the tradition with a bang
and made each couple a quilt.
They are all wall hanging size
or small lap quilts
and each one was made with the individual in mind.
(Let's be honest... they were made with the women in mind. :D)
Here is my sister's.
She had requested this design a long time ago
and now was the time to make it for her.
This was made using an old, old Christmas tree skirt pattern
borrowed from my one sister in law.
I love the finished quilt,
but this was not a fun one for me to make.
Next, I made "For God and Country"
for my brother and sister-in-law who live in NC.
My sister-in-law saw this pattern earlier in the year
and loved it.
And last, but not least,
I made this quilt for my
brother and sister-in-law in PA.
Family means everything to my sister-in-law
and she loves hearts.
This one was a no-brainer for her.
This pattern was an adaptation of the
"Exploding Hearts" pattern
"Exploding Hearts" pattern
and can be found on line.
I have not made my quilt yet
and am not sure what design I will use.
It's a little sad that this is the end of this tradition,
but I can always start a new one!
Happy Quilting!
