Ombre Ribbon Baby Quilt Top Finished

Over the weekend I was able to finish this
Ombre Ribbon baby quilt top
and add it to the pile to be quilted.
As I mentioned in my previous post,
I have had these ombre fabrics for  a while
and could not find a pattern that I wanted to use with them.
The latest American Patchwork and Quilter magazine
had this quilt on the cover and I really liked it.
These blocks show off the ombre in a fun way
and went together quickly.

Once all of my blocks were done,
I decided they needed sashing and cornerstones
in between them.  Plus, the way the pattern says
to press the blocks doesn't allow for nesting of the seams.
Sashing made for less bulk.

I cut enough strips to make another nine blocks,
but I'm going to wait for a while to see if
that's what I want to do with them.

Hopefully this will be quilted soon and ready
for the baby to arrive.

Today I'm linking to Design Wall Monday.

Happy Quilting!

Well done, thou good and faithful quilter!!! Very pretty...I'll be anxious to see what you do with the other strips. That's a very pretty line of fabrics. Hoping you have a wonderful day and a blessed week. Hugs from WV.

...and p.s.----much prettier with the sashings and cornerstones than the original in the magazine.... :)

The sashing and cornerstones really adds to this. Beautiful!

Love this quilt -- especially your own addition. It just really works so well. I have been working on a quilt with that same fabric. I love this design almost as much as the one I'm using. Hum, I probably need to go buy the magazine.....

I love the way this turned out. The sashing is really a great addition. I dug out my magazine and added the quilt to my “to make” list!

You know, I realized right away with your last post about this project that I liked your version better than the one in the magazine, and I wasn't sure why since you used the same or similar ombre fabrics. Now that you mention it, it's the sashing you added to separate your blocks that makes me like your version better! Congrats on another lovely quilt finish!
