Mindless Little Projects

Over the past few weeks I've finished up
a few things that had been languishing in my
Hidey Hole.
Before starting another big project,
I decided to get some small things made.

A friend had asked me to make her some
potholders... and had asked a while ago!

Out came the fabrics, batting and the insul bright.

The line of binding across the pot holder is on a pocket
for the hand. The hand can go inside the pocket and be protected
on both sides from being burned.

I had this pumpkin fabric in my stash and thought it
was time to use it.
The lower set is for me. :)

These will all be delivered to their homes this week.

For those who have followed me for a while,
you know that I have made a number of Bucilla felt kits over the years.
There is a shelf in a cabinet in my Hidey Hole that has
a number of kits waiting to be made.
I decided it is time to work on one again.

This is going to be a Gingerbread Advent calendar.
There are a LOT of white sequins that will be sewn
onto the felt for this one, along with other colors
and some embroidery.
It's a relaxing thing to do in the evenings while
my husband watches sports.

Nothing too exciting here,
but I'm using stash and making little things.

I'm linking to Design Wall Monday today.

Happy Quilting!

I love your potholder pattern! What do you use to insulate? (sorry if you've mentioned this before).

Ah, I'd forgotten about those Bucilla kits! I have one for little felt Christmas tree ornaments with rosy cheeks, I think there's a Mr. and Mrs. Santa and a snowman? I bought the kit the first Christmas after I was married in 1998 thinking I would get them made and on the tree that same Christmas, but I got bogged down/distracted/in over my head. I wonder where I put that kit? It's probably still in my sewing room somewhere, two moves later! Your advent calendar looks like it will be lots of fun!

Cute as a button, they are! What a great idea having the extra pocket....looks like a fast and easy project. I have been waiting for a post about your Bucilla kits...lol...it's getting close to Christmas (I know...we're not even to Halloween yet but I'm already seeing Christmas trimmings in the stores!) The Advent Calendar looks like it will be quite pretty...looking for a "finished" post.

Oh I don't know, I think there are lots of exciting things happening at your place. Small yes, but nevertheless wonderful. Those potholders are great. Love all the different fabrics and as for your Advent calendar, how pretty this is going to be. Good on you for getting all those unfinished pretties done.

Your pot holders are so cute! They look like you are a pro at making them... especially the binding. After seeing all your needlework for Bucilla, it reminds me of the ones I did back then. And then I wonder if I would do one now. Hmmm

Great small project--I know I have some InsulBrite around here somewhere and have been meaning to make some potholders too. Love your fabric choices.

I did several Bucilla kits when my kids were young. A Great Aunt of my father's had made our son a very complex Christmas Stocking from a kit, which we still treasure. She added his name to the top of the stocking, in gold cording!

Have a good week
