Amish with a Twist II Top Finished!

There was a time when I didn't think I would make this quilt.
The colors just didn't speak to me.... blah and boring.
Why did I sign up for this BOM??

Well, I decided to pull out the patterns and fabrics last month
and started making the blocks.
At first I wasn't thrilled,
but when I got to MY colors...
the jewel tones, I became more interested.

Let me just say...
I could not be happier with this finish!

The blocks are all sewn together, waiting for the borders.

The borders have been added!
I almost left off the 2 1/2" square middle border, but am so glad I didn't.
It just pulls it all together.
(It is really difficult for me to get a good photo of this quilt. It's Huge!!)

My husband loves this quilt.
I said I was thinking of giving it to my
goddaughter, who is newly engaged, as a wedding gift
and he said "NO WAY! This one is staying here!"
 :)

One downside to using this fabric...

it frays like CRAZY!
This is just a Small portion of the threads removed from this quilt.
I think I could have stuffed a pillow.

Now to get the backing pieced and then it's off to the quilters.

I'm excited!!

Happy Quilting!

It is beautiful. I am making this same quilt. I still have a few log cabin blocks to complete and then it will be ready to sew together. Thanks for reminding me how pretty this quilt is. Enjoy your quilt.

I concur...completely. It may be huge but it's absolutely beautiful! Well done! I've just started making my blocks, starting with the sampler blocks. I've got to replenish some of my darks before I can start on the log cabin blocks but seeing your finished top only makes me more determined to make one as well. By the way---what a wise husband...I'd keep it too. (Leave it to the goddaughter in the will.) Have a great afternoon---stay cool....you deserve a break. P.S. ....what will you use for backing? Solid or print or pieced?

I love how it glows! Those dull colors you didn't like so much really set off the brighter blocks and allow them to shine. Well done!
