Back In the Winter....

...I took a class at the
Mid-Atlantic Quilt Fest.

I don't remember what the class was called,
but
I had so much fun with it!

We decided what would be on our quilt....
Then....
dyed Silk Organza
to compliment our design.

We made a layered quilt,
with part of the design being on the background
and
part on the dyed Organza.

The technique does add
depth to the quilt.

Some quilting was done on the background
and
some on the quilt after the
organza was added.

The binding was a bit of a challenge
since the organza is a bit slippery.
It was a fun quilt to make
but, I don't think I'll make another on my own.
 Too many products to purchase!

I'm happy with
"Under the Sea."

Design Wall Monday...

Last year I made a
Courthouse Steps
quilt for my mom.

My sister LOVED it.
 So....
I'm making one for my sister!

I cut the strips a bit ago
and was able to get some of the blocks
sewn together this past week.
The sewing goes very quickly!

I'm a little more than half way finished with the blocks.

While I like these colors,
they aren't my fave,
but...
they are my sisters.

My design wall is still not finished,
but I am working on it.
I'm using insulation squares covered in flannel.
Had to buy a new staple gun.
:(
Mine was jammed!

On My Needles....

I've been a bit of a knitting slacker
this week...
One place I like to knit is
in the car while my husband is driving.
It gets dark so early now and
I can't see to knit. :(

Anyway....

I did work on my Boneyard Shawl  a bit.

I also worked just a little on my
"Rosebud" socks.
I need to get these finished!

The good news is
I needed to see what I have
finished for gifts this Christmas.

Here is my pile of completed socks.

In addition, I completed
three shawls.
They need to be blocked.

I have a few more things to make,
and Christmas is just around the corner!

Happy Day!!

Using Left Over Pieces....

I made this
Baby Quilt
for my Niece's baby
back in the spring.

In making these pieced
Flying Geese,
I had triangles left
after sewing the
"yellow sky" in place.

From these "Scraps"
I made this little quilt
a while back.

 Have I mentioned that
I LOVE POLKA DOTS??

Such a fun, happy little quilt.

Have a polka dottie kind of day!
:)

It's Monday....

... and my Design Wall is a
bit bare.
I actually haven't put it back up
yet after my room remodel.

One of my Quilty Friends
has made a couple of
purple and green quilts
and they are beautiful!
I have never been much of a fan of
purple, but...
I was inspired.

SO.....
I began collecting purples and am making
a purple and green quilt.
:)

I'm just starting on the blocks and
I'm not sure about the toile, but will
make a decision after more blocks
are completed.

I'm also using the
Triangles on a Roll
for the first time.
Not sure I'm a fan...
It seems to take a lot of time!
We shall see.

While my room reno was going on,
I cut out the pieces for three quilts.
I couldn't go anywhere and this
was something I could stop and start easily.
Now they are ready for stitching!

A Courthouse Steps Quilt

 A Snowball Quilt

And a Missouri Crossing Quilt

These will keep me busy for a while!

Knitting Needles Friday...

Progress is being made on the
"Rosebud" socks
using

I decided to wait and knit both heels,
using the
 "Afterthought Heel"
after each sock body is completed.

We had company over the weekend
and I wanted to knit while we talked.
So...
I had to begin a new project that didn't
require counting.

I started
using three different yarn colorways.

The colors are actually deeper then what is shown here.
This is a fun, easy shawl to knit.

Happy Friday!

It's Confession Time....

I am usually a
pretty neat person...
Things are in their place,
my house is clean,
all is good.

EXCEPT....

in My Sewing Room!

All I can say is...

Thank God for DOORS!!

I am embarrassed to say that until yesterday....

.... THIS was my sewing room.

Piles and piles and piles.
And this is after I picked up a lot of the stuff!

Then it looked like this:

All of that stuff has been moved out for some
NEW CABINETS!!
I can't wait to be organized again.

After a days work by the installer,
 my sewing room now looks
like This!!

I love my new cutting table/cabinet!
All this storage space!!
AND
I can use my big base table
on my sewing machine now.
YIPPEE!!

Plus room for a new
Design Wall!

I PRAY that I can keep the piles from
accumulating again.

Oh Happy Day!

Happy Quilting!

Design Wall Monday...

.... Except I am writing this
Sunday evening
and
It's dark already!
:(

I cannot get good photos of this
Finished Quilt Top...
BUT
I LOVE IT!!

The Borders just bring it
all together.

I haven't decided if I will quilt this myself
or
send it to my Longarm quilter.
The deciding factor will be if I want to wait to have it
completed.

My machine quilting is not fancy,
But....
Does it need fancy?
It already is
"Blind Man's Fancy"!!

:)

On My Needles....

This week I didn't have to
"Cool my Heels"
as much as I have lately,
so not as much knitting was done.

I did finish this pair of socks.
They will go in my
Christmas Gift pile.

The Pattern is
and the yarn is
Madelinetosh,
but I don't remember the color.

Now I am working on these socks...

The Pattern is
and the yarn is
Blue Moon Fiber Arts
"Rosebud"

This yarn is soooo soft!

I am knitting the
Afterthought Heel again.
It seems to go faster and is easier for me to knit.

"Boy Quilt"....

.... Check....

I finished stitching the binding down
on the
Disappearing Four Patch
"Boy quilt"
this afternoon.

(Here is the "Girl" version.)

There is some pink in this one afterall...
in the striped binding.
I love this binding fabric for this quilt,
so the pink stays.

I am not OCD enough to cut the pink out the
binding....
but I did think about doing it.
:)

I normally hand stitch the binding,
but machine stitched this one since it is a baby quilt.

The backing was another sale fabric.
Love it!

I see more of these in my future,
but this is it for the
Disappearing Four Patch for now.

Happy Quilting!

It's Monday!!

And you know what that means!

Design Floor Monday!

I haven't worked on a quilt
for this length of time
in a long time
and I have enjoyed it!
The piecing is completed
after making
LOTS
of Flying Geese.

The top is sewn together...

I love the Flying Geese.

And now....
Borders or Borderless??
(The colors are off in the photo below for some reason.)

I don't have any fabric that will
work for borders.
What I have is
wwwwaaaayyyy
too busy.

Does this mean I
get to shop for fabric??
(I'm thinking it needs borders...)

Happy Quilting!
