Raise your hand if you are making masks for your local
hospital or health care facility.
Who would have ever thought that we would be in a place
where we would be asked to make masks and gowns?
The quilt group I belong to was asked to make masks
for a daughter of a member's work place.
Then my goddaughter, who works at the hospital,
said the hospital is in need, too.
We pulled fabrics from our stash,
found what elastic we could and went to town.
As I was cleaning my hidey hole the other day,
I found a stack of theme fabrics I had used years ago in a quilt.
I almost put this stack in the donation pile because I didn't know
when I would use them again.
Well.... they made really cute masks!

There were also coffee label masks, glitzy masks,
sewing items masks, carpenter tools masks, and lots more.
I have a little more elastic, so a few more will be made.
I sure hope these aren't needed for long!

I am making some mask for my sister a nurse - I had not elastic and couldn't find any so need to make ties - I am using some narrow bias tape I had any thing that can be ties
WOW you really made a lot--I don't have flannel or elastic so I ordered some and will be
making them as soon as the order arrives. What pattern did you use if I could ask? Thanks

I am not making masks myself, as I have less free time than usual now that I'm needing to visit multiple grocery stores in order to locate essentials such as meat, milk, and TOILET PAPER(?!!). Also spending time feeding, refereeing, and otherwise managing the two teenagers whose high school and colleges have closed. Today they both start "online learning" and the technology was not cooperating for Son the Younger; not sure if the problems were on the school's end or ours. Son the Elder's first online class is in an hour and a half so we don't know how smoothly that will go... All in all, there's a lot for this mom to deal with even though I have nowhere to go. But I did find over 150 yards of quarter inch elastic in my stash that I donated to some of my empty nester quilter friends who are sewing masks. I know my strengths and weaknesses, and I know they will put the elastic to better use and churn out hundreds of masks in the time it would take me to locate a pattern and get my machine set up to sew even one of them.
Wow - you made a LOT of masks! I'm sure they will be appreciated.
My plan is to make a few this week. I already worked from home before this all started and so far that hasn't changed my schedule enough to give me much extra sewing time. But these looking very quick to make.
