Using Scraps

I am not good about using scraps.
In fact, I am horrible at using them.
When cutting quilts,
I throw the scraps into a big garbage bag and there they sit.

One day last week I decided I needed to either start using them
or get rid of them.

Out came my Go! Cutter, a pile of scraps and the 2 1/2" square die.

I cut a PILE of 2 1/2" squares and started to come up with a plan.

16 patch blocks were made,
along with the "inbetween" blocks.

The photo of the pile of 2 1/2" squares in the first picture was taken
AFTER I'd made all of these other blocks.

There are many more blocks that can be made from these scraps.
I will see where the quilting mojo takes me.

Happy Quilting!

Love love love it! But as you know scraps multiply as you work with them. They're like gremlins. LOL

Looks great! The more you divide them the more they multiply like rabbits! I've always thought scrap quilts are so much more interesting than quilts made entirely from one collection
Have fun

Way to go! Inspired by my 16-patches, perchance? Mind if I steal your idea for some of my 2-1/2 inchers?

I have the same problem with my scraps - I keep vowing to get better! I've got way to many small pieces for putting through a die cutter, so I have to come up with other ideas.

I have a huge drawer of 2 1/2" squares and lots of other precut sizes of scraps. LOTS of others. But I also have a BIG bin and in April I bagged the bin of scraps up and gave them away. I consider a scrap anything less than 1/4" yard or FQ! I keep telling myself I should get a GO cutter, but just haven't done it. What I would really like is fusing fuisble web on and cutting letters so I haven't decided if that is the right cutter. I need to investigate!

I love scrap quilts, and to think you get a quilt from something we might have otherwise just thrown in the trash is an awesome feeling. It's going to be wonderful!!

Terrific plan Ramona and a great way to use up your scraps. Did looking at them again take you down memory lane?
