Thankfully this doesn't happen too often....
I get the blocks made for a quilt and lay it out
And....
YUCK!!
I DON'T LIKE IT!!
At this point it's too late and too much trouble to take the blocks apart.
I love the fabrics individually,
but not together with the gold background.
The name of this fabric line drew me to it...
"Prayer Shawl" by April Cornell.
I can't tell you when I bought it.
All I know is it was quite a while ago!
This will have a border added to it, will be quilted
and will be donated to the Women's Shelter that I have donated
quilts to in the past.
You can't win them all!!
Happy Friday and Happy Quilting all!
Stay warm!!

I think the gold works with the fabrics its just some of the prints are too big to be cut into little pieces and make it really busy looking. It will keep someone warm. When I have blocks like that they always migrate to the edge of the quilt where they fall off the bed, hopefully on the far side.

I agree with straythreads, she took the words out of my mouth. At least you're going to finish it and donate, someone will love it. Your mistake could change someones life in a positive way, it doesn't get any better than that.
I actually like the gold, and I like the other fabrics with it, too. This is a lovely quilt. If you don't like it, though, someone else will really love it. Good for you for finishing it up!
It's often that I get that yucky feeling at this stage of a quilt. But I promise you, you will love it after it's quilted. Your fabric choices caught my eye when I was looking at all the thumb nails. Someone will cherish this quilt.
It's such an interesting design, I hope you will try it again with fabrics you like.
Ramona, I see what you mean here, but I have to tell you that I really liked it in the thumbnail on Bloglovin' It looked like the pieces were disappearing into the gold and this creates a very interesting effect. I agree that you might find yourself liking more after it is quilted. It will definitely brighten someone's life!
I think the design is very pretty, and I like many of the blocks with the background. I agree with you that the background color does not play nice with some of the colors. I also think the others are right when they say you might like it much more after it has been quilted. I hope this is the case, but, if not one of the ladies in the shelter will love to have it.
