This is what I awoke to this morning... again.
It's pretty and all, but I do not like snow.
We are forecasted for ice tomorrow and more snow next week.
The one good thing about snow days is more time for sewing!
With all of these baby quilts needed for my extended family,
I have been thinking of what to make.
I am not one to have orphan blocks laying around,
but I did find 10 of these scrappy blocks that I had made
several years ago and decided to add to these for one of the
baby quilts.
I'm not sure if this block has a name
(I'm really bad at knowing names of blocks!),
but it's a fun block to make with my bucket of 2 1/2" squares.
I have five more to make for this to be the size I want it to be.
In addition, I'm trying to decide on sashing fabric.
I like this bluish gray and think the colors pop against it.
This white with silver lines looks good up close,
but gets lost from a distance.
When I went to the quilt shop yesterday,
I was hoping to find a cute polka dot that would work,
but had no luck.
I have a white with yellow pin dots,
but they disappear from a distance, too.
What do you all think?
Happy Quilting!

This is a terrific scrappy, I just love the pattern and may try it myself. I'd use that blueish-gray for the sashing, it's a nice complement to the brights. Well done!
I like the bluish grey best too. I’m not sure of the name of those O blocks either I would call them hugs and add a few hour glass blocks on the corner stones for kisses. Love the scrappiness
Have a great weekend
It’s too cold to snow here -9 at the moment-18 over night
This is really a cute pattern...nice work hugs, Julierose
I think I love the quilt! I was looking for a fresh baby quilt idea for donation, and this is just the thing. Thank you.
I agree, the blue-gray will set off the scrappy blocks nicely. Great idea for 2.5" squares!
You always seem to whip up such pretty scrappy quilts in next to no time. Another sweet quilt in the making by your clever hands.
That is a great scrappy block. I like the pale sketch fabric for sashing as I think I like the blocks to not stand off individually, but rather as blending together. Whichever you choose will be great as both will be wonderful. Sorry about all that snow. I would not be a fan either.
The snow was really pretty for a day but I'm ready for it to be gone. Love the scrappy blocks!
That's really a great scrap block, and so cheerful!
These bright and scrappy blocks will make perfect baby quilts. Love them :-)
