2 1/2" Square Scrappy Top Finished

Looking back on things,
I chose the perfect time to make a scrappy quilt.
Sewing together 2 1/2" squares in a somewhat random way
is really mindless.  I didn't have to concentrate on anything, really.

I went back and forth on what to do with the borders of this quilt
and after realizing that I didn't have enough of the white fabric
to do what I had in mind,
I decided to add three more rows of the scrappy squares.

I love it!!

There are so many fun fabrics in this quilt
and some go way back to the beginning of my quilting days.

There aren't many batiks or Christmas fabrics in the top.
I've saved those fabrics for other things.

It's a little bit of an "I Spy" quilt.
Do you see golf balls, a sneaker, an orange, a pumpkin and a dreidel in the squares above?

I need to get the backing ready and then get this quilted.
I may do it myself by quilting a grid across it.

This quilt top made a huge dent in my bucket of 2 1/2" squares!

*****Edit****

I have had several questions about the pattern for this quilt from
No Reply Bloggers.
I did not have a pattern for this quilt.
The design just came to me as I went along making it.

Since we are all at home and not able to go out much,
I've been cooking more.
One of the things I have wanted to make for a long time is pasta.
An order for pasta making attachments was put in and they were
delivered last week.
Easter Sunday Doodlebug and I made homemade fettuccuni with shrimp scampi.

There are things I learned making pasta for the first time.
One thing is that we will be doing it again!!

Coronavirus Cooking.
YUMM!!

Happy Quilting!
Be safe and be well.

That is one thing I love about making scrap quilts is that I have a collection of fabrics that span decades and it is so much fun to remember those when you are making it or enjoying it later. Wow all that pasta looks awesome!

Just gorgeous...so simple yet so pretty and original. Only 906 print squares not counting the white ones in the 9patch setting. I may have enough charms to do that---yes!!! Another Ramona quilt added to my "quilt bucket list". lol.....Your Doodlebug has such a sweet smile. Hope your Easter was wonderful. No church here...I watched an online service from Post Falls, Idaho where another quilting friend attends church. It was nice but not the same. I think this is the first Easter in my 67 years I was not in church. Sigh!

I found your blog through a Pinterest picture of this quilt which I'm going to do using my Leaders/Enders. Thanks for sharing.

What are your piece dimensions? Did you cut out 2.5" squares? So the square on the quilt is 2 inches. Is that right? I'm diving in. Hope mine comes out as beautiful as yours.

What was the measurement of your cut out squares? 2.5" ? So your squares on the finished top would be 2 inch squares. Right? I'm diving in. Hope mine comes out as pretty as yours.

So cute! I do this too where I just kind of make something up as I go. I have a bunch of three inch square cut out from scraps I have from making masks and scrub caps, so I think I will make something similar to this and it will be my "COVID quilt."

I just came across your quilt on Pintrest.....It is beautiful, I love it.
I have been wanting to make a quilt using all (well maybe some) of my 2-1/2 " sqs. for a number of years now.
My shelves a full w/bins of them each in separate colors. Thank you so much for sharing.

Looks like another quilt I will add to my to-do list! I used up most of my 2.5" squares on another scrap quilt, but I've got plenty of scraps to cut for another one. Thanks for sharing your quilt.

I just finished making this. I LOVE it!! Thank you so much for posting pictures! I have an accuquilt studio and the squares and strips were cut lickety split!

Lorna, what was the finish measrements of your quilt?

@estelle

If my count is correct, the quilt top should measure 66” wide x 88” long so twin bed size.
