Well, I think it's official.
I think I've turned into a scrappy quilter!
This box of Kaffe scraps is sitting on the floor here in
my Hidey Hole, screaming "Use Me! Use Me!".
Rectangles were cut from a bunch of different fabrics
and blocks have been made.
Here is what I have!
This is a small sampling of the fabrics I cut into 2 x 3 1/2" rectangles.
The rectangles were sewn into blocks like this.
I do not do random scrappy,
so I had the fabrics on a tray by my sewing machine
and picked each one as I went.
Even with controlled scrappy, I still ended up with
two of the same fabrics in one block.
Oh well...
The pattern I saw had all of the blocks together with
no sashing. I put them on my design wall like that first,
but it was total chaos.
Not the look I was going for here.
Sashing strips will be added with corner stones.
I'm thinking of finding a white with tiny yellow polka dots
for the sashing and more Kaffe for the corner stones.
The sad thing is, this hardly put a dent in my box of scraps.
There will be more Kaffe scrappiness in my future! :)
Happy Quilting!
I love seeing what others do with Kaffe, but I can't bring myself to go down that path. I agree, the sashing will add some order to the chaos.
ReplyDeleteOh i am all in favor of the scrappy "chaos" --a riot of prints etc...;))) [just me!]
ReplyDeleteBut it will also look great with sashing...hugs from afar Julierose
I love scrap quilts and need to get more made - I really have only been concentrating on two quilts for awhile now one of the frame and one on the wall!
ReplyDeleteI think the sashing actually makes the blocks shine even more. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI love how bright it is. I made two quilts using the same blocks, I used sashing too because the blocks are so very busy. I love the sashing you have used.

Just because you use scraps does not mean that you have to do random. I never do. I am very thoughtful about what fabrics I put next to each other. Love your quilt!
ReplyDeleteLoads of Kaffe scraps is such a good problem to have!!! I am sure you will put them to work beautifully as always. And if you ever got tired of these scraps I'd be happy to take them off your hands :-D Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a stunning quilt! I just love all the color of Kaffe fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI love it!! It’s going to be a gorgeous quilt. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteI like the blocks and I think a little control over the scrapiness is good. Sashing sounds like a good idea.
ReplyDeleteTurning the blocks was just the ticket! It will be lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour scrappy Kaffe blocks look simply SCRUMPTIOUS! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love Kaffe and this is wonderful! I think I like scrap quilts that are the same type of fabric. I have trouble with the really random ones, but I love this!
