This little quilt is becoming one of my all time favorites.
I love this color palate and really like this design.
It has given me fits over the last few months
as I worked to complete the blocks of this mystery.
I've made several mistakes and have had to redo
parts of blocks and complete blocks,
but it's almost finished.
I love the movement in this design.
My eye just follows the circles around
and I can see all of my batik scraps.
Now it's time to play with border ideas.
There were a lot of 2 1/2" squares left over,
so I decided to see how they would look as an inner border.
I think I have a winner!
The colors of the marbled fabrics look the same in this photo,
but in actuality, the fabric on the left is more turquoise.
I'm going to look for a batik that reads more solid for a larger outer border.
This quilt top really reminds me of Sea Glass.
Hence, the name!
Happy Quilting!
I'm happy to see this beautiful quilt all together because I worried when you were struggling with the Tri-Recs that you had put the white in the wrong position. Fabulous pattern. It really does look like sea glass.
ReplyDeleteThe color combination is wonderful, and, yes, the illusion of circles is very intriguing. Great design!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved this pattern and I love your color choice.
ReplyDeleteWowzers you sure do have a winner. I love the pieced sqs. border, just the right touch. I know you had struggles with this one, but in the end you are gonna LOVE it to bits!
ReplyDeleteThis is turning out beautiful! I love the name too. It makes me wish I had participated. If only I had the time. Saved the patterns so maybe after I get
ReplyDeletethis little business going!!!
You say this is a mystery quilt. Is the pattern available to purchase?
ReplyDeleteThe quilt group I belong to is doing this mystery, so the pattern isn't published. Let me check with the leader to see if I can put the directions on my blog.

ReplyDeleteSea Glass is a perfect name. It's just lovely. I love the pieced border!
ReplyDeleteLoving it...... got to finish mine....
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful Ramona! I recently finished a quilt similar to this and my batiks where in the same color group! This is always a favorite block of mine, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous. I like your choice for the inner border. I find that it contains the unfinished circles that direct the eyes to the outside. Now the eyes are drawn back to the centre. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. I've always loved this design or ones similar. Your smaller border was the perfect idea for using up your left over squares.
ReplyDeleteOh it's beautiful Ramona! No one would ever guess that it gave you fits. All the work sure was worth it! The inner border is the perfect touch too!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is gorgeous Ramona! The blues and greens work so well together, and you are very correct with the movement of the colors and circles. The borders tie it all up and give your eye closure.
