Last week I posted about making a quilt for each of my
Four Nephews
using the pattern of our family crest
I had drawn years ago to make a flag for my dad.
And I really questioned my sanity.
Well,
the tops are all ready for quilting.
This past weekend I spent
HOURS
tracing and cutting and pressing and cutting...
And it's always nice to realize that some pieces were traced
backwards and needed to be traced again.
:(
So now the sewing begins.
I'm hoping it won't take too long to stitch around all of the
shapes and add the details to these quilts.
A girl can dream, can't she??
Yesterday I had to visit my LQS to get more red background fabric,
and found this pattern.
(Please excuse the bad photo,
but it's raining here today.)
I have been ITCHING to do some applique
and am totally inspired by Lea Anne's at Podunk Pretties
design in the reds and blues.
What do you think? Won't it be beautiful in reds and blues?
Let the tracing begin...
or continue??
Please visit Patchwork Times to see what others are creating.
Happy Quilting!
I'm impressed at how quickly you're putting together flags! I think you just might meet this deadline, you go girl! And yes that pattern would gorgeous in reds and blues. It would look good in any colors really. Great pattern, can't wait to see your version.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing some appliqué blocks. One is going to be the reverse of the planned block because I have done so little with fusible that I cut the first piece backwards and didn't have enough fabric in the kit to redo it. Ah, the design possibilities.
ReplyDeleteI can see that with your project you really can't have the names in reverse! What a cool idea to make the flags.
Those blocks will be wonderful in red and blue.

Oh my gosh.....you have worked so quickly on it. They look great.
ReplyDeleteYou are always so busy! I love your family crest projects. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteRed and blue quilts are always fabulous. Can't wait to see what you do.
I don't question your sanity... it's ok to start a huge project from time to time ;-). I certainly don't question your creativity... This quilt top is stunning with the red and the black. I'm sure it will take some time to sew everything but it will be worth it. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this project.
