Another year filled with plans and dreams begins.
Starting a new year is almost like a "do over."
What do I need to improve on this year...
what do I need to change....
what do I need to add to my life...
or take away...?
The possibilities are endless.
I started 2015 off sewing.
(shocking, I know!!)
See, I was SUPPOSED to be cleaning my sewing room.
And I was doing pretty well
Until...
I found a bin with partially constructed blocks
from several years ago.
What's a quilter to do?
"It won't take long to sew these into a top and then
I can use this bin for something else!"
Well, a little over a day later we have this:
This block is Bonnie Hunter's "Crabapples" from 2007.
Several years ago I made a quilt with these blocks and had the
Checkerboard patches sewn together for more blocks.
A little paper piecing, cutting of setting triangles, sashing and cornerstones
and here we are.
Okay... Maybe NOW I'll get my sewing room cleaned!
Happy New Year
and
Happy Quilting!
Happy New Year, Ramona! Nice finish. I do the same thing -- start cleaning and before I know it I'm thinking "what if?".
ReplyDeleteEmptying a bin counts as cleaning in my opinion. And a finish this early in the year! Woot, woot!!
ReplyDeleteI am guilty of doing the same thing when I clean or organize my sewing room or any other room in my house.
Love this block design and am thinking it might be a perfect use for the tin full of 1.5" postage stamp squares I've been collecting.
Wow! You've got one finish for the year already. I love your quilt.
ReplyDeleteFinishing up a quilt project is ALWAYS a good reason to abandon any other chore - it's almost mandatory!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!! Love your crab apples. The year has just barely started and a finish already, so inspiring!!
ReplyDeleteSewing is always much more fun than cleaning! Wishing you all the best in 2015 -
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Nice quilt top! I did the same as you started cleaning and said oh heck I want to finish this top! Have 5 more blocks and I will put on my blog!
ReplyDeleteRamona - Crabapples is beautiful! A lovely finish, well worth putting off your cleaning! I'm pinning this!
