Happy July 4th
one day early!
Each year, since a few years after my dad died,
I've made a patriotic table runner or topper for
my siblings and my mom.
Well, my mom died last fall,
so her sister will get the runner she would have
received this year.
For this years runner I used this pattern.
and it went together quickly.
Over the years I've accumulated a nice stash of
red, white and blue fabrics,
so all of these runners were made from my stash.
I thought this years runner speaks of my mom and my dad.
My dad was one of the most patriotic people I know
and my mom loved her family fiercely.
I have depleted a lot of my fabrics making these runners this year,
so I will need to be on the lookout for more fabrics to beef up my stash.
Darn!!
:D
For several years I've asked my siblings if
they want me to stop making these
and they have all said "NO!".
These will be delivered at the end of the month
when we will all be in Michigan for the interment
of my mom's ashes.
Happy Birthday, America!
Happy Quilting!
I'm very sorry that you will have to shop for more fabric but the runners are worth it. These are beautiful! I like your version better than the pattern cover. happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteLove the sentiment. So sorry for the loss of your mom. They are hard to replace!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing these each year. This years have such a wonderful meaning behind them too.
ReplyDeleteOh shucks you have to go fabric shopping!! I see lots of patriotic prints out there to be had
ReplyDeleteand they are so cute!! But how nice that you could use up most of the stash of patriotic in these lovely heart runners. And how lucky your family loves your work:)
That pattern looks great in your patriotic prints. WOW, a runner every year! That must be quite a collection for each. They can be spread all over the house for a wonderful patriotic expression.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tribute to your mom and dad. I always love seeing your placemats...such a great gift...of course everyone wants you to keep this annual tradition!!!
