This week I've had to take a break from getting
rid of piles in my Hidey Hole.
A baby quilt is needed for a shower in February,
which will be here before I know it.
I had to go fabric shopping for this quilt.
The mom-to-be is doing the nursery in
soft pinks and mint greens
and, as you can imagine if you've followed me for long,
I don't have many of those colors in my stash.
The mom is not a bright and bold color person,
so I decided to not shock her with my usual color palette.
so I decided to not shock her with my usual color palette.
It was fun wandering through the quilt shop pulling
fabrics that would be in the color palette.
Mint green is difficult to find right now.
Lime green.... not problem, but the mint greens were
few and far between.
I found a stack of fabrics,
started cutting the 2 1/2" squares
and began putting
Granny Squares together.
This is going to be a soft, quiet baby quilt
and I'm liking it!
(My Design Wall needs some work!)
The colors are difficult to photograph,
but are in between these two photos.
I am using the little flower on white print
in between the blocks and will probably
use it for a border, too.
Two blocks are sewn together,
but not trimmed.
I don't think I've made a Granny Square quilt before
and am enjoying the simplicity of the design.
I'm not sure how many blocks I'll need
at this point. Enough 2 1/2" squares
have been cut to make a bunch!
Today I'm linking to Design Wall Monday.
Happy Quilting!
wow that she asked for a quilt in the colors you don't have! oh well all that stash will make other quilts and maybe you will have some of those light colors left over to add to the stash

ReplyDeleteThis will be a sweet quilt. Love these soft colors. I tend to go for the bright and bold too, so when I sew something outside of my color palette it is probably surprising.
ReplyDeleteHeavy sigh I love those colors together
ReplyDeleteAre you enjoying working with the pale colours? How many blocks are there all together, and what size are they?

I am loving this pretty quilt, Ramona. LOVE those sweet, pastel fabrics. This Granny Square pattern is beautiful. Why, I wouldn't mind making a pretty, pastel, Granny Square quilt for my home.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern is beautiful, the colors are soft and inviting....this will be one blessed baby. What a sweet and generous gesture on your part.
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks! It will make a nice pattern for the baby! Very pretty colors: so soft.
