Tie Blocks

The Tie blocks are finished!
In fact, I just finished sewing them all together.
(I have spent most of today sewing and have so enjoyed being in
my Hidey Hole today.)

There was a time when I wondered if I would ever finish these blocks
and then today.... they are done!

The blocks are paper pieced and finished at 6 inches.

Now I need to remove all of the paper from the back.
:( :( :(

Does anyone want to help?
Please??

Happy Quilting!
(and ripping!)

Miscellaneous Monday

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving
and are easing into the Christmas Holiday season.
We had a houseful of family for several days
and enjoyed every minute of being together.

During the fun and crazy few days,
I did manage to get a little sewing done.

The top of the Table Runner for my daughter and son-in-law
is finished... it just needs to be quilted.

This runner is HUGE.
The table my son-in-law made is huge as well.
It can easily fit 12 people, if not 14.
They love to entertain,
so this will brighten their table at Christmas time.

My daughter picked this fabric out and asked that I make her a runner.
She LOVES Charlie Brown and the gang.
The backing is made, so the quilting will be done this week.

The Tie quilt for a dear friend is coming along nicely.
There are 7 more blocks to be made
and then they will be rearranged to distribute the colors better.

I'm hoping to have this one sewn together in the next couple of weeks.
Then  the decision of how to quilt it will be made.
Any suggestions?

And lastly, work on the annual ornaments for the ornament exchange with
my sister and her family continues.

I saw this pattern for these three ornaments years ago
and have wanted to make them.

They are finished except for the hanging cords.

I am linking to Design Wall Monday today.
Happy Monday, All!

And Happy Creating!

Good Grief, Charlie Brown!

It has been way too long since I've worked on anything in my
Hidey Hole.
My sewing machine has cried itself into silence,
my tools have rusted
and my fabric has dry rotted.

Not really....
But it feels like it's been forever since I've created anything.

The good news is
my house is back to normal and CLEAN!

I no longer am tracking dust everywhere
and writing messages on my furniture.
The inside work is done and things are put to place.
Phew!!

Now that I should have more time to create,
I started work on a table runner for my daughter.
She LOVES Charlie Brown and the gang
and has since she was little.
When I was visiting her in California,
we visited a quilt shop in Winters
(really cute shop with very friendly employees).
She found this Charlie Brown Christmas fabric
and asked me to make her a table runner.
This is the daughter who banned me from making
any more quilted items for her!
You know I jumped all over this one.

I pulled the fabrics out and started making the blocks.

These Lemoyne star blocks were easy to put together.

I have no idea what happened with this photo,
but there is not a huge wedge missing from the lower left corner.
These prints are so cute!

This fabric will be used for the outer border.

Hopefully I'll have this runner finished before the weekend.
This daughter is here all week from California and I'd like to send it home with her.

It feels so good to be back in my Hidey Hole!!

Happy Quilting!

Christmas Ornaments 2018

For the past few years
my sister's family and mine exchange
Christmas ornaments on Christmas Eve,
while eating Chinese food at our mom's.
Some of us make our ornaments
and some of us purchase them.
It doesn't matter,
because laughter is always part of the evening.

Since we are into November already,
it was time for me to get my ornaments started.

I have a fair amount of wool felt and decided to use it for
this years ornaments.
Pinterest is a wonderful place for ideas!

 One niece loves butterflies.

I need to stitch the backing in place and remove the pins. :)
This one will be for either my mom or my sister.

This is the Sign Language symbol for "I love you."
I have a great niece and a great nephew
who will be receiving these.

There are a few more to make before I am finished with
this year's ornaments,
but I have started!

Happy Stitching!

Knitting and Tie Blocks

With things being rather chaotic and MESSY
at my house,
I've been knitting more in the evenings.
It doesn't add to the mess that's already here.
After I'm finished for the night,
the project goes back into the bag
and clean up is done.

I started knitting this shawl with just one strand of yarn
and quickly realized that it would not work.
It was torn out and I started knitting with two strands.
This is much better!

The cable and decorative stitching going down the side
are easy and fun to knit.
I think I'm about half way finished with this one.

Here is the link to this shawl pattern,
Anisah

On one of our trips,
I started knitting a pair of purple socks for my older daughter
with the tiny feet.
These are purple and gray,
but it's dreary here today,
so the colors aren't showing in the photo.

This week I've been able to make more of the
Flying Geese blocks from the
recycled neck ties.

This quilt is coming together nicely!
This will not be the final layout.
As the blocks get finished,
they are added to the design wall.

My friend had a couple of fun ties
and this was one of them.

Happy Friday
and
Happy Quilting!
(or knitting!)
