The other night,
while listening to a book on my iPad,
I removed the papers from the back of the
Paper pieced stars.
Three Hours.
That's how long it took.
And this is why I don't enjoy paper piecing.
I do have to say, though...
The stars are precise and look pretty cool.
It was worth the effort.
I decided to make a runner with these stars,
so framed them in a navy blue solid
with fuchsia corner stones.
I'm going to look for a fabric with most of the colors
for a wider border.
There is no way I would have been able to
sew those thin pieces of fabric so precisely
without paper piecing.
The frustration and irritation fades
as I look at the final product.
:)
Another project out of my cabinet and almost finished.
Happy Quilting!
Ramona, your stars are SPECTACULAR!! Can you share where you sourced the pattern? I think they are worth every minute of the fiddly paper-fussing. I don't mind that part, because to me it's like "hiding the secret evidence" that I "cheated" by paper piecing. Once the papers are out of the blocks, you just look like a total rock star who pieces PERFECTLY. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe stars are beautiful. I really like paper piecing - in small doses. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose are stunning!! Now I want to get mine underway. Like right now!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteThat is really gorgeous. It has such a striking look to it with those narrow and precise piecing. I'll bet it looks like it snowed at your house after removing all those tiny bits.
ReplyDeleteThose are amazing! I am just venturing into paper piecing and frankly have held off because it seemed so fiddly and annoying to remove the papers, among other things. But man the results are worth it! I just love your stars and the way you used value to distribute the colors across the points.
ReplyDeleteOh yes it is looking wonderful! The hard part is over and soon you will get to enjoy using it.
ReplyDeleteWow! Definitely worth the effort, very dramatic stars. But I can see why you hating removing the papers, some of those pieces are just little slivers!
ReplyDeleteYour stars are so so so fabulous! I am glad you made them in solids! They look great!
