Do you have a "go to" quilt pattern that you seem
to make over and over again?
Or am I the only one who does this?
There is something so soothing and comforting for me
in making Disappearing Four Patch quilts.
I think the pattern makes a great baby quilt,
it's so easy to put together
and it highlights the fabrics.
Here is my latest edition.
(And another pile cleared from my Hidey Hole!)
I had a charm pack of the color fabrics and purchased
yardage for the white blocks and the border.
To quilt the borders, I followed the aqua zigzags throughout the fabric,
all the way around the quilt.
For those who know me,
you know how much I dislike piecing backings.
This is a rookie job compared to what some of you do,
but I didn't have to purchase fabric for the backing.
This one is ready to give to the sweet little one who is due the end of May.
Just for fun, I've gone back and looked at all of the
Disappearing Four Patch quilts I've made.
I attended a "Control your Scraps" session
and ended up with a tub full of 5" batik squares.
These two quilts came from those squares and solid white.
I love the striped binding on these quilts.
These fabrics were left over from another quilt I had made.
Again, I paired them with solid white.
Another D4P made with batiks.
These, too, were left over from another quilt I had made.
These, too, were left over from another quilt I had made.
These fabrics were a prize at a quilt retreat.
I purchased the border fabric to go with the 5" squares.
Believe it or not, I have blocks made for another D4P.
They are the sister blocks of the quilt I just finished,
so there will be a 7th edition at some point!

Enjoy your day

Happy Quilting!
Hard to be a disappearing four patch. Love getting to see all of yours in this post!
ReplyDeleteDoes Mr. N know about your obvious love affair with D4P? hehe.....I can relate----I've made so many Disappearing 9 Patch quilts it isn't funny! I haven't tried Disappearing Churndash or Disappearing Pinwheel yet. All your D4P's are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThey all look great, it would be hard to pick a favourite. I love stripes for a binding. In fact I think I used the border fabric that you have in your latest quilt as a binding on one of my quilts.

Oh that new one is so delicious! I have seen any of the D4P over the years and I never tire of seeing them, they all look so different. I am glad you did a review of your others:-)
ReplyDeleteI have never made a D4P and you may have just changed my mind. The quilt is lovely - a sign that spring is here. That you shared previous quilts was just an added bonus :-) Binding with striped fabric is my absolute favorite.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Design Wall Monday.
Love your D4Ps. I have the 4 patches ready to cut up for a charity quilt and with this inspiration I just might get to them. They are also made of scraps and started as 6" squares. Thanks for the nudge.
ReplyDeletewhat fun quilts and perfect for baby quilts so many scraps and so many plans and never enough time
ReplyDeleteI have done some of the other disappearing patterns but have not got around to the four patch, you have inspired to to try one, on no in trouble with the not starting anything new rule.
ReplyDeleteOh I just love your two scrap buster quilts! They are fabulous. I have never made this pattern - I'm stuck in a nine-patch rut lately for my baby quilts. I am trying to branch out . . . I will add yours to my list. ~smile~ Thank you for sharing!
