Dribs and Drabs...

Isn't funny how we use different terms or words
in different parts of the country?
I was in Michigan last week visiting family
and my cousin asked if I wanted "a pop".
In NY and Virginia we call it "soda".
I asked my aunt if she was working on anything fun
and she said "Dribs and Drabs".
I would have said "bits and pieces" or "this and that".

So today, I have dribs and drabs to show you!
There hasn't been much time for sewing these past few weeks,
but that's okay.
It's summertime and the living is easy!

I finished sewing the filler blocks for the second scrap quilt I've been making.

I was going to make a big scrappy quilt, but I need baby quilts!

It's fun to see all of these fabrics together.

These blocks are fun to make and go together quickly!
I'm not sure what these will be yet, or how many will be made.

I'm working on a new quilt and have the background almost finished.
Two more rows will be added.

This is going to be a cathedral window quilt... the easy version!
It does take some time to get this part sewn... and a lot of fabric!
I can't wait to put the windows in though.

Have a great week and stay cool!

Bye Y'all or You guys or You-uns or Yinz or You all!
:)

  2. In this part of the South everything is Coke -- grape coke, orange coke, Pepsi coke ... unless it's Mountain Dew. I belong to the this-and-that crowd, I think. Lately I've had a number of comments about "bits and bobs" which sounds oh so British.

  3. We called it pop when we lived in Ohio. Then we moved to where it was called soda. Mostly now where we live, I hear Coke or Pepsi more than anything.

  5. Dribs and drabs works too! ;-) The fillers really add to the piece and I love the solids. That is more sewing than I've done in the past few weeks. ;-(

  8. Funny, we say this and that! I've heard bits and pieces too but never dribs and drabs. What fun your quilt is! We say both, soda pop! I just had this conversation with friends last weekend, one is from upstate New York and one spent a lot of time in the deep south. The funny one is warshing machine vs. washing machine.

  9. Here in Alaska we say "pop" and "this and that." I am so inspired by your lovely scrappy quilts. It's time to start digging in my scrap box. Thank you for sharing.

  10. I have not heard dribs and drabs before, but I use this and that all the time! Your projects are coming along nicely. I agree summer time is fun time, but darn, it sure is cutting in on my sewing time!!

  13. Great scrap quilts. My friend laughs at my collection of leftover 2 1/2" squares. But they are nice leaders and enders and quickly turn into a quilt.
