It's Monday!!

And you know what that means!

Design Floor Monday!

I haven't worked on a quilt
for this length of time
in a long time
and I have enjoyed it!
The piecing is completed
after making
LOTS
of Flying Geese.

The top is sewn together...

I love the Flying Geese.

And now....
Borders or Borderless??
(The colors are off in the photo below for some reason.)

I don't have any fabric that will
work for borders.
What I have is
wwwwaaaayyyy
too busy.

Does this mean I
get to shop for fabric??
(I'm thinking it needs borders...)

Visit Patchwork Times to be inspired!

Happy Quilting!

  1. It's beautiful! Do you have any more of the light floral used in the geese? I'd use that as a slab border. (Any pieced border would be too busy and detract from the geese.)

  2. Wow Ramona,
That is one amazing job of piecing. Love the colors and the design. Great respect for you doing all those flying geese, way to go.
Borders would be nice if you need the additional size, but it looks wonderful as it is right now.

  4. The only reason I would say put borders on this, would be if you need it bigger, or if there's a chance your binding would cut off the points on all your perfect looking geese. Something light, that would blend into the background of the geese if you needed to add a border.

  5. Borders would help to balance the busyness of all the piecing, but if it were me, I would use a darker beige or tan narrow border (something that pulls out the shade in the accent tones on your background fabric) and then probably one of the Reds for a wide border.

  6. If this were mine I would put a narrow red stop border. Any further borders would be quilter's choice as it will be great either way.

  7. Love your quilt. You left a comment on my blog about my FG quilt. Mine FG don't look as well as yours'!! :)

  8. Beautiful! I recommend at least a small border, not pieced, to control all those flying geese seams a the edge. Guess that means fabric shopping!

  9. Thank you for all of your comments! I am going to add borders... probably a narrow red border with a larger green one. Once the fabric arrives, I will play with it and see what I like. Hopefully I will be using this at Christmas.
