I was playing in my
Hidey Hole
(sewing room)
(sewing room)
and after working with all of the
reproduction fabrics of late,
I NEEDED to get out my batiks and play.
I needed BRIGHT COLORS!!
Out came my box of 5" Batik squares...
I cut 5" squares from white...
and I began to make a
Disappearing Four Patch quilt.
(Great Tutorial at the link above.)
Let me tell you...
these blocks are so much fun
AND
go together so quickly!
Having a swivel cutting mat makes cutting these
a breeze.
Ready to take to the sewing machine!
Now to decide on the layout....
I am leaning toward the second layout, but
I like them both!
My color fix has been taken care of for a while!

Love your bright disappearing 4 patch! Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's a fun quilt to make.
DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you. The colors make it in my opinion.
DeleteGood morning! Congratulations on being the first on this week's DWM. Your blocks are so colorful! I really like D4P and D9P. Last year I used batik scraps to make a D4P with 2.5" squares which turned out really well.
ReplyDeleteI will have to try the D4P with 2.5" squares. I bet that would be fun, too! Thanks!
DeleteThis is just wonderful, and I LOVE your fabrics. I have never seen the D$P before but you can be sure I will be making one soon. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWarning.... these blocks are addictive! :D
DeleteMan, those batiks look fabulous. And, I've been wanting to do a disappearing 4 patch but just haven't gotten around to it. Hum, I have some funky halloween charm squares... hum, .... yours are an inspiration. But, maybe I should finish something or three before I dive in to a new quilt.... Thanks for the temptation (or, er, inspiration!)
ReplyDeleteAs stated before.... these blocks are addictive! BUT they go together very quickly, especially if you are using a charm pack.. no cutting will be needed to start in on the fun. Enjoy!
DeleteI LOVE the second lay out, the white space allows for some fancy quilting in those areas :) Great layouts, both of them.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, fancy quilting is not my forte... yet...BUT I do have an awesome Longarm quilter!
DeleteLove your fabrics. I favor the second layout. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments. The second one is probably my choice, too. I might have to make two... one of each layout. :)
DeleteWhat a lovely assortment of bright batiks!! Love how this is coming out! I haven't tried the disappearing nine patch block yet, but you just gave me the "push" to try it!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really fun block to make and goes so quickly. I can see more than one of these quilts in my future. :D
DeleteI love both of them. and the colors are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Batiks are my favorite and I love the bright colors.
DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI love this pattern and your colors just shine with that white background, very nice job.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a fun pattern to make. I am really like the batiks with the white background, too. Thank you for your comments.
