New Stocking for Baby Girl

 I have a new granddaughter on the way!

She will be joining us in 6-ish weeks

and we cannot wait.

Each member of the family has a stocking

made from a Bucilla kit hanging on our mantel

at Christmas.

My daughter and son-in-law have stockings at their home

that I've made for each of them too.

I knew I needed to start Baby Girl's stockings so they 

would be finished in time for Christmas.

This will be the stocking for my house.

I just love the detail on Santa's coat.

 I will quilt the stocking itself and stitch this to the front.

It will make a sturdy stocking that can be stuffed to the top!

Now, onto the stocking for her home.

Bars and Squares

 I love college basketball and will watch just about anyone play

on tv.... except for my favorite team.

For some reason, I get so nervous when VCU plays

and have to listen to the radio broadcast and

play in my Hidey Hole at the same time.

VCU played in the A10 tournament this past week

and ended up playing 4 games, making it to the

Championship round.

Unfortunately, we lost, but it was fun.

While I was listening to the games,

I started a new quilt.

My 2 1/2" square box was getting very full,

so I came up with a design to use some squares,

along with a black and white jelly roll I've had for years.

 

 

 

 

 

I was able to get most of this done while listening to the 
four games.

The last few rows were sewn together today to finish the top.

 

 

 

The bricks are 2 1/2 x 6 1/2" and the squares are 2 1/2" square.

It did make a dent in my scrap box!

 

VCU is playing again on Wednesday,

so I'll have to start another project to work on for that game!

It would be awesome if we played four more games. :)

Veterans Quilts

 It's taken a while,

but these two quilts for

my local Veterans Hospital are

finished and ready for delivery.

 

 

 

 

 

  The pattern is from one of the 

three one yard cuts book

and went together so quickly.

 

 

 

 

I love the moth fabric!

You can't see it in the photos,

but I quilted around each moth and

then did meandering and arches

in the other areas.

 

 

This pattern was in a recent quilt magazine.

I had been given a pile of scraps of blue fabrics

that worked perfectly for this design. 

The background fabric had been in my stash

for a long time and I was so happy to find a use for it.

This was a quick and easy pattern, too.
