An Applique Finish

This quilt has been one of my favorites to make.
I don't know why it has taken me so long to finish this one
since it is one of my favorites.
I'd get so far and stop for a while,
only to pick it up again months later.

Never the less...
it's finished!

And I love it.

This middle block is my favorite.
I love how the fabric worked for fussy cutting the flowers.

I hadn't appliqued anything in a while and really enjoyed making these blocks.
Now it's time to begin another applique project!

Finding the border fabric turned out to be more of a
challenge than I anticipated.
I am pleased with what I finally found.
I think it keeps the eye on the applique blocks.

This one will hang on the wall in my back hallway
for summer.
Or I might put it up there now!
Red, white and blue quilts make me smile.

Happy Quilting!

  5. Beautiful finished quilt and yes, your fabric choices work beautifully together for a very unified sampler. Love your fussy-cut florals and the border fabric is so perfect that I would have guessed you chose that first and then selected applique fabrics to coordinate with it!

Have you chosen your next applique project yet? Because Esther Aliu just launched a free applique BOM a couple of weeks ago and it's gorgeous... You can see it here: https://www.estheraliu.com/freequiltpatterns It's not as elaborate as her paid BOMs are, so not such a huge time commitment, and it would be so pretty in a traditional color palette like the one you just finished. :-)

  8. Pretty applique, Ramona. I sure can relate to the process of dearly-loved quilt projects being put away for long periods and taking a very long time to finally emerge as a finish, but they're so worth it!
