A couple of weeks ago a
friend gave me a charm pack.
A few days after that I needed something
mindless to do,
so I decided to use the charm pack
in a Cathedral Window table topper.
I cut some yardage into 5" squares for the
"window panes"
and laid out the charm squares for the background.
After a couple hours of sewing,
I had this...
I didn't have enough charm squares to make it
symetrical,
but I like it anyway.
A friend saw it over the weekend and loved it.
It is now on her kitchen table!
Mindless sewing is the best!

Beautiful! Those fabrics are perfect for that.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I love this so much! Now I have to do a you tube search for this. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! you have gotten yourself back in gear, good for you!! i'm still in neutral
ReplyDeleteFor you, who has done several of these, it might be mindless sewing, but I still can't wrap my head around how it happens. I'll put it on my list to learn -- NEXT year!
ReplyDeleteI tried doing blocks like this once and it didn't turn out well, because of that I am very impressed at how well yours turned out. It is really beautiful.

Of COURSE your friend loves it. This is beautiful! I don't know how to do cathedral window blocks. Would you consider posting a tutorial of your method? "Mindless" sounds good -- that's about how high my powers of concentration will go lately!
ReplyDeleteGoing to tutorial now! Thank you for sharing....you are so generous in spirit. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is really pretty and what a good way to use up charms.Mindless sewing is what we all need at times....(but this looks far from mindless.) Blessings----hope it's warmer where you are than where I am....lol.
What fun to be able to use a charm pack and have this turn out so cute! I too like symmetrical, but this works and so glad you found a home for it!
ReplyDeleteI could go for some mindless sewing right now. Your topper turned out wonderful, you were lucky to find it a loving home so quickly;)
