Confetti Quilt progress...

Last week I took this quilt top to the quilt shop to
find something for the border.
I knew it was going to be a challenge...
and it was.

I finally settled on this polka dot batik and like it okay.
It's going to be a boy quilt,
but it looks more feminine to me now.


I used some Ombre fabrics for the "confetti" pieces in the quilt,
going from dark down to light.

The border fabric has all of the quilt colors in the polka dots.

I think I'm going to do straight line quilting down the
white zigzag rows.

Time to start quilting!

For the first time, I've decided to participate
in Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt.
(link on sidebar)

I was really drawn to the colors in this one,
which is odd...
I am not usually a fan of purple.

The first clue is underway.


Four patches made from 2" strips.

I have around 70 of the 221 sewn together. 
Guess what I'll be working on today!

    I am not drawn to the purple/yellow/green combination of this mystery quilt so I am collecting the directions and will wait until it is finished and see what it looks like - then I can substitute colors I do like. I really never make a mystery quilt I'm not good with color and need to see what I am making before I cut!

    It will be fun to see the mystery quilt come together. I am not doing that one, but decided to try a small version of the one at My Carolina Home. I need to get my pieces cut in the next couple days!

    I like your border fabric, and I don't think it looks feminine at all! Maybe a bright red solid for the binding? As for that En Provence mystery quilt... Everyone seems to have caught that bug except me, and I'm not allowed to start anything new until I finish something (yeah, right -- that's what I keep telling myself, anyway!).

    I agree with the others - the border actually enhances the boyish charm of this quilt. Not feminine at all. Good luck on En Provence - BH's mysteries are always so much fun, no matter how they turn out - which is usually wonderful :). I'm playing along this year with a limited number of blocks for a small version.

    I was SO tempted on Bonnie's mystery this year, but looked at my list of things to get done and decided to wait and see. I love purple! I have done two of the mysteries, one I loved, one I dislike and can't decide what to do with it. The other quilt is wonderful and I like the border!

    Your Confetti quilt looks good to me. Love the border fabric too. You have a good start to the Bonnie mystery. I am taking the "wait and see" approach this time because I still have way too many UFOs to work on. Still haven't finished one of Bonnie's older mysteries.
