The Last Monday of June!

Here we are...
Half way through the year!
WOW!!

My Design Wall has a new project on it today!
I needed to do something other then
Table Toppers and mini things.

So I pulled my collection of
Kaffe Stripes and Polka Dots out and
began to cut...

Here is where I am this morning...

A LOT of HST's in three different sizes.

The tiny ones are 1" finished.

The large ones are 4" finished.

The medium size ones are 2" finished.

I am not sure where I am going with these yet,
but I'm having fun!

I have a question for all of you wonderful quilters...
When you donate a quilt,
do you put a label on it?
I have several I am donating and was thinking I'd put a
label on them with just my initials and the care instructions.

Pulling Fabric

I've been on a "mini" project kick lately...
and I am feeling the need to work on something
Bigger.

First, I finished this Table Runner yesterday.

Made with Kaffe scraps and stash.
It has gone into the bin for my
Church craft fair in the fall.

For a while I have been collecting
Kaffe stripes and polka dots.

I've pulled a pile of these fabrics and
am going to begin playing with these.

I hope what I have in my head comes out
in the creating process!

It's Friday!

What a crazy week this has been!
I feel like I am tumbling and rolling into the weekend,
but it's all good!
Some sewing did get done
and
very little knitting!

Last night I was able to sew the binding down on
these two little Table Toppers.

Even though I used Christmas fabric,
these don't scream Christmas.
I love the colors.

The pattern and tutorial for these toppers can be
found here.

I have two more of these pieced and ready to quilt.

My sweater did not grow very much this past week.

This is the left front of the sweater.

I have finished knitting the right front and the back,
but have not blocked them yet.

This is the pattern I am using.

The 8 to 12 Waiting Game...

I had a repair man coming to the house this morning...
"He will be there between 8 and 12."
Don't you just hate that?

Since I had to be able to hear the doorbell,
I worked some in my hidey hole.
Thankfully the sewing machine doesn't drown out
the door bell like the
vacuum cleaner does!
Darn! I couldn't vacuum!!
:D

Here is what I was able to get done.....

I finished machine quilting these two little
Table Toppers.

Plus I made the binding
and sewed that onto the toppers.

I also finished quilting this
Table Runner.

The other day I found this quilting stitch
on a blog I was reading.
(SO sorry... can't remember which one!)
It's #4 stitch on my Bernina,
stitch length set at 3.0
and zigzag set at 5.5.
It is the cutest little stitch!

It will be nice to get some of these little things
finished and checked off of my list!

Hope you had a great day today!

Happy Quilting.

Fat and Happy Frogs...

The Frogs are finished!
They are full of rice
and
all trimmed up.

These guys are ready to be heated in the microwave
and placed on achy muscles.

Aren't they cute??
I microwaved all of the buttons before
placing them on the frogs,
to make sure they are microwave safe.

It took 35 pounds of rice to fill these guys!

Ribbit!!

I do have another table runner on my
Design Wall.
I kept sewing and sewing and ended up with a
Really long runner!
It will get trimmed and quilted soon.

Knitting Friday

Slow and steady...

My sweater is growing.
The right front piece is finished!

Forming the neck was a bit confusing,
but I think it turned out correctly.

We shall see!!

The completed back and right front....
Both need to be blocked, but that will come.

I have NEVER knitted anything this large or
time consuming, but I am enjoying this process.
Hopefully I'll have it finished by the fall.

The Frog Invasion....

Continues!!

I found a pile of 2" strips
cut from Kaffe Fassett fabrics.
                                                                   Next thing I knew....

FROGS!!

I am going to need a
BIG bag of rice to fill all of
these frogs!
This makes 15 frogs in the
den... pack...herd....
ARMY!!
(Google is a wonderful thing!)
Who knew??

Happy Quilting!!

Christmas Design Wall.... in June!

It appears that I am a month early for
Christmas in July,
but it looks like Christmas on my
Design Wall this week!

A while ago I found this tutorial
for a pretty Table Topper.

This week I pulled out some Christmas fabric
and cut away.

They go together so quickly and
in no time I had these sewn up!

These measure 26" from point to point
and are designed to be made with  the 10" Layer Cakes.

I have a feeling sewing the binding onto these
table toppers will take as long as making them did.

:)

All of these little quilts will be added to my church bazaar offering
for the fall.

More pieces have been cut for another table runner.
This one should go together quickly, too.

Borders were added to this table runner and it's ready for quilting.

All of these little projects are fun and quick to make, but
I am getting the itch to start something bigger and more challenging.

So many ideas....

More of the Same

As much as I am enjoying
knitting this sweater,
the blog posts are not very exciting!

They will show my progress, though,
and I hope I continue making progress!
:)

I am knitting the right front panel for my sweater and am
almost finished!

Three more rows to do and then
I create the arm hole.
Hopefully it won't be too complicated!

These colors aren't true...
it's overcast here today, so I had to use the flash.

Here is the back showing the true colors of the Noro  yarn.

And this is the pattern I am using.

I do have a pair of socks going, too,
for those times when mindless knitting is needed!

:)

The toe needs to be grafted and then
I'll knit the Afterthought Heel where the pink line is located.

I'm sad that the bright orange didn't show up in the
body of the sock.
I might have to pull yarn so it will be in the heel.

What Plans did I have?

Have you ever found blocks, pieces, fabric, etc.
and wondered what you had planned to make with the finds?

Well....
I found a PILE of HST's from
Kaffe Fassett fabrics and have
No Idea of what I was planning with these.
There weren't enough for a quilt,
so I decided to sew them together in
different size table toppers.

My church is having a bazaar in the fall
(First time for us!)
so I'm going to quilt these and add them to the bazaar items.

I just love the bright colors and patterns!
(Hope others do, too!)

Borders will be added to this for a table runner.

A border will be added to this, too, for a little table mat.

I think I might just quilt this as it is and add binding.
This will be a table topper.

The difficult part was done...
the HST's were cut, sewn and trimmed!
It was fun to play with these and make this little items.

Hhhhmmmm....
I wonder what other treasures I have hidden in my closet?

Happy Quilting!

Froggie Design Wall

My "Hidey Hole"
has been taken over by
Frogs!!

Ribbit!!

This week I started with 5" squares
and made this:

Then I quilted this piece to end up with this:

And then the frogs began appearing!

Climbing right up my Design Wall!

These guys will receive button eyes and be filled with rice.
Then they will make the best gifts...
 Heat a froggy
in the microwave and put  him on your sore, achy places!
Wonderful!

I did finish my May
Scrappy Challenge block project.
There won't be any more Scrappy Challenge blocks,
but I thank Judy for motivating me to
use some of my scraps.

These little minis are
14" x 18.5".

The "Word" fabric is so much fun!
