Getting It Done....

.... October....
How are we here already??

This is my first time participating in
Getting It Done...
BUT
I do make a monthly list for myself.
It helps...
.....sometimes...
:)

For October:
1. Quilt and Bind Christmas Tree Table Topper

2. Sew, Quilt and Bind "Boy" Disappearing Nine Patch

3. Finish Fall Wool Table mat

4. Quilt and bind fall Table Runner

Design-less Wall Monday

I don't have a lot to show on my
Design Wall today.

The "Boy" Quilt has not grown this past week,
and I am not going to show
anymore
Disappearing Four Patch blocks.

:)

I have been working on some applique, though!

The block has to stay hidden because it is a
Round Robin
for my
History Quilt Club.

I don't want the block owner to see the rounds
that have been added
up to this point,
but
I can show you the round I am adding to her block.

I really, really enjoy applique!

 The pieces are all prepped...
I just need to get sewing!

Happy Quilting.

New tools...

I am prepping to do some
applique
and have two new tools to help with the prep.

The first tool is a
Flexible Curved Ruler.

This ruler bends into curves and waves,
but is stiff enough to hold its shape easily.

It is great for drawing multiple vines
that you want to be the same size or shape.

Once you have the wave you want with the
Flexible Curved Ruler....
trace the wave with this pen.

Frixion Erasable Pen.
A fellow quilter told me about this pen and it is
WONDERFUL!!

It writes smoothly,
Erases with heat easily,
and is easily seen on the fabric!

I am unable to show the entire block
on which I am appliquing.
It's a Round Robin block for the
History of Quilting group
I belong to, so...
it's a secret!

On my needles...

.... are more socks.

I am making progress on the striped pair from last week.

As I was knitting along, I came to a knot in the yarn.
Well....
I kept knitting.
In the second round after knitting the knot,
the knot came undone in my work!
I ripped out back to where the knot was,
and, thankfully it was only one row!
Lesson learned....
do not trust the knots in the skeins!

**Edit**
My sister crochets and found this
YouTube video on
The Magic Knot.
She has had success with this technique in her crocheting.
This is how I knotted my yarn after it came apart while knitting.
So far, so good!

Then..
I was cleaning out some bags in my
sewing room
and look what I found!!

I had started this sock last year
and
completely forgot about it!

The good news is...
I have a sock almost completed!

Life is Good!

One is done!

Are you tired of seeing pictures of the
Disappearing Four Patch?

I hope not
because....

The "Girl" baby quilt
is completed!

I
LOVE
THIS
QUILT
!!

I found the backing on the half price table at one of my
LQS's.  Yes... I bought all of it!

And I am so happy with the striped binding.

Such fun!

Onto the "Boy" version.

Design Wall Monday

I just can't help myself...
These Disappearing Four Patch quilts
Are SO MUCH FUN!!

I am working on the
"Boy"
version of this quilt.
No pink in this one!

Is purple okay in a "Boy" Quilt?

The quilting has begun on the "Girl" version.
Just straight lines and stitching in the ditch.
The bright colors are the focus of this quilt.

I love this pattern!

Happy Quilting!

How did I do.....

.... on my
At 4:44 today,
summer will officially end.
:(

Here is what I was able to finish
from my list.

1. Both of these baby quilts were quilted
and one has been delivered!

2. This mini was completed and I even found a
display stand.

3. The watermelon table topper is finished!

4. This Wall Hanging will be going to my
Long Arm Quilter.

5.This table topper is now on my
coffee table.

6. A finished Christmas stocking for a friend.
What fun!

7. The Christmas Tree Skirt is finished
and waiting for the wedding in October.

The last three projects I did not complete...
.... or even work on during the summer.

I'm pleased with what I did accomplish, though.
Making lists is helpful for me!

Happy Quilting!

I'm slowly making progress....

.... on the machine quilting

One Christmas Tree Skirt is quilted as well.
(The non-abstract Tree Skirt!)
:)

Yippee!!

NEXT!

Happy Quilting.

More socks.....

... on my needles.

I finished the pair from last week
using Sea Glass.

I love the soft colors of these socks.

For the current pair of socks I am using yarn
someone gave me.

It wouldn't be my first choice of colors,
but...
They will be warm!

to see what others are knitting.

A finish...

.... and another check off of my
list.

It is still summer, right?

Anyway, I finished the
60's Santa Stocking
I am giving to a friend.

As I mentioned in a previous post,
I do not use the felt back that comes in the kit
 to finish the stocking.
It just would not be strong enough.
How would it hold all of the goodies that will be
stuffed into it Christmas morning
with only a felt back whipped stitched in place?

I use the piece of felt as a pattern to make a stocking from
fabric I quilted.

I cut the piece larger than the felt piece to allow for binding.

I then use this first piece as a pattern to cut the second piece.

After sewing the front and back together,
I bind them.

Once the binding is sewn on
and the hanger attached,
I hand stitch the embellished, felt stocking front
to the completed stocking.

Now I have a sturdy stocking that can
actually hold some
Christmas goodies!

Another gift checked off of my list.

:)

What is wrong....

... with this picture??

If you said
the Opening is
Off Center...
You would be correct!
:(

You know the saying...
Measure twice, cut once.

WELL..
I needed to check twice and cut once.

Maybe I'll start a new trend?
Abstract Christmas Tree skirts?

OR...
This is the tree skirt for the tree
up against the wall.
I have one of those!

UGH!
It is a humbling experience,
but
it's all good!

Design Wall Monday 9/16

It's amazing what I find in my
 Stash
sometimes.

I was in the bin of Christmas fabric,
looking for backing and binding for the
Christmas Tree Skirts
 and
Table runners
and found
THESE
!!!

Trees cut out and prepped to make
Table Toppers.

Two sets of them!

WOOHOO!!

I found a piece of fabric to use as the background
and ironed away!

The background will be trimmed around the
bottoms of the trees, making a scalloped edge.

Ready for stitching, basting and then quilting!

Another Christmas gift in the making.

AND... No fabric purchase necessary for this project!
I have it all in my stash.

Happy Quilting!

I've been working....

... on my quilting...
All the live long day!

Well... not ALL the live long day,
but I'm making progress.
:)

The four Christmas Table Runners are
DONE!
One Christmas Tree Skirt is about half quilted
and the other is basted.

I'd much rather be piecing,
BUT
I like finished quilts, too.

Happy Quilting!
